Architect From Plunkett Raysich Named to State Library Council
MILWAUKEE (September 21, 2006) – The Wisconsin Council on Library and Network
Development (COLAND) has named Michael Bahr, an architect and project manager at Plunkett
Raysich Architects, as its secretary. Created by the Wisconsin State Legislature in 1979,
COLAND advises the State Superintendent of Public Instruction on matters that ensure that all
state citizens have access to library and information services. COLAND members are appointed
by the Governor for a three-year term.
Bahr has also been tapped to be chairman of the Editorial Advisory Committee to Wisconsin
Architect magazine, a quarterly publication distributed to more than 2,800 readers in Wisconsin.
He is leading efforts to redefine the magazine and its delivery systems to provide timelier and
more meaningful content.
“Lifelong learning is a long-standing professional interest of mine so I was honored to be asked to
serve both COLAND and Wisconsin Architect,” said Bahr. “Working to ensure ongoing statewide
access to library services on COLAND, while participating in the publishing process of Wisconsin
Architect, provides an interesting mix of perspectives on the difficulties of distributing knowledge.
I’m learning a lot each and every day I’m involved.”
Bahr is part of the Civic Design Studio at Plunkett Raysich Architects, and lead the team to design
the New Berlin Public Library. The library project recently won a gold award from the American
Society of Interior Designers and received a first place in the International Interior Design
Association’s annual awards competition. Bahr is currently working on design projects that
will provide enhanced library services to the communities of Cottage Grove, Mineral Point, and
Williams Bay.
