The Veterans Affairs Regional Office Building is a 102,000 sq. ft. three-story building that houses various veterans service groups, a vocational and rehabilitation/education component as well as pension, the directors office and legal counsel. The main function of the building is to process the claims of the 23 million veterans in this country. Light shelves reflect daylight into the office space. It features a two-story lobby with break room and conference room overlooking the lobby. The glass cafeteria space looks out onto the landscaped plaza. Conference, training and meeting rooms are dispersed on each floor. A large mural at street level within the cafeteria space is visible from the main thoroughfare and surrounding neighborhood. The renovation of the new data center was designed on the lower level with a depressed floor, central to the footprint to serve all of the data retrieval/storage for veterans’ benefits procedures done onsite.
