Burlington High School

Location:
Burlington, WI
Size:
266,500 sq. ft.
Completion Date:
August 2000
Client:
Burlington Area School District
The passage of a $29.9 million referendum resulted in a number of building projects for the Burlington School District.  A new 266,500 sq. ft. two-story high school was built on a new site.  To temper the large scale of this building, concrete block and face brick were used along with the design of a curved west facade.  This new school has a four-station field house with both team and physical education locker rooms, a weight room and a physical education classroom.  Connected to the field house is a food court cafeteria that supports, and is adjacent to, a 460-seat auditorium, as well as a campus bookstore.  The building is the centerpiece for the community, and stands adjacent to a new community wellness center and a satellite classroom building for Gateway Technical College.

Awards: International Masonry Institute of Wisconsin; American School and University
