Oconomowoc Intermediate Schools

Location:
Oconomowoc, WI
Size:
123,000 sq. ft. each
Completion Date:
August 2008
Client:
Oconomowoc Area School District

Strategically located on two sites near growth areas of the community, these new 123,000 sq. ft., two-story intermediate schools have identical footprints in order to provide an equal community presence but different color schemes to differentiate the schools both inside and out.

Each school is enriched with an exterior material palette of three brick colors and cast stone detailing. In addition, gabled roof forms articulate the main entry, library and classroom pods while allowing the buildings to blend with their surrounding neighborhoods.  A house concept design provides individual classroom areas for each grade level.

The layout for both schools includes a 2 station gym, locker and multi-purpose rooms, art, science, special education, cafeteria, health, choral, orchestra, band rooms, combined technical education and computer lab as well as a library and computer lab.  Each school has capacity for 800 students, for grades 5 through 8.
