The Neuroscience Center in Neenah, Wisconsin is a new freestanding outpatient center dedicated to providing the finest in comprehensive neuro / spinal care to the community. The 38,920 sq. ft. facility includes 32 exam rooms, two procedure rooms, MRI, X-ray, EEG and EKG, as well as spaces for therapy, rehabilitation and patient education services. The client engaged the design team and consultants to create a space that would allow them to provide the ideal patient experience in a building with minimal environmental impact. The new building is located on a picturesque site. The building’s exterior is clad in brick and stone and features a prominent Porte cochere and stair tower that welcomes guests to the facility. Low maintenance exterior finishes, strategically placed solar panels and a waste retention and filtration system reduce the building’s impact on the environment. The facility’s interior spaces were planned with patients’ comfort and relaxation in mind. The waiting area features a two-story fireplace clad in the same stone used on the building’s exterior. Small seating groups are arranged throughout. Abundant natural light pours in through the many windows. A small café area with a coffee bar is concealed behind leaf-patterned translucent panels. Computer stations are provided for patient education and the waiting area features a children’s corner with built-in toy shelves and an upholstered window seat.
