The Women’s Health Birthing Center at Aspirus Wausau Hospital was designed in 2005 as a 4-bed center with the ability to expand in the future. The Center’s increased patient flow created a need for additional space. The Nursing Unit Expansion, which was completed in 2007 included new space for the NICU on the second floor. The new 8,800 sq. ft. NICU accommodates up to 14 infants and features the latest advances in NICU technology and comfort for the littlest of patients and their families. This project has received LEED Gold certification.
Key sustainable design Metrics include: - 94% Energy Star Compliant
- Uses 30% less water
- 89% of construction waste was diverted from landfills
