To address the growing need to train health and emergency responders, Gateway Technical College added 8,700 sq. ft. onto their Burlington Campus a HERO (Health and Emergency Responder Occupations) Center. This addition includes an apparatus bay, student commons area, simulation lab, command center, lecture rooms and break-out areas for collaborative interaction. This unique facility also features a two-bay fire station that will allow advanced fire company officer and chief officer leadership training. At the HERO Center, Gateway will offer specialized training for area departments such as confined space rescue and fire fighter rescue.
