Waukon High School Middle School

Location:
Waukon, IA
Size:
68,710 sq. ft.
Completion Date:
August 2007
Client:
Allamakee Community School District

Faced with declining enrollment and operational costs for multiple aging buildings, traveling students, teaching staff and on going maintenance needs, the Allamakee Community School District consolidated its Middle School with a 68,710 sq. ft. addition to its existing High School. A "school within a school" concept developed age appropriate division within the school while allowing the economies of shared teaching spaces.

The building program highlights a new 1,500 person two-station gymnasium, library, high school science wing, band and vocal music suite and open computer labs. Renovation upgrades include updating existing electrical and technology infrastructure as well as updating and expanding the District’s kitchen facility.
