Size:
65,000 sq. ft.
Completion Date:

Meriter Hospital

Meriter Hospital is ranked number one in birth for the State of Wisconsin.  With this accomplishment to maintain and improve, Meriter asked Plunkett Raysich Architects to design a new Women’s and Infant’s Center of Excellence.  The new 65,000 sq. ft. center creates a campus identity, with distinct image for Women’s and Infant’s Health within the North Wing of the hospital.  One of the major goals of the project included efficiency of staff.  Efficiency was paramount to keep care providers in close contact with patients and family.  Staff support and collaboration spaces were designed and located in the center of the new birthing unit, with the birthing suites clustered around it.

Some additional features of the project include: eight private rooms for triage assessment; three C-section rooms with state-of-the-art technology, including video monitoring to allow families to participate in the birth remotely if necessary (families in the Military); 13 private birthing suites two featuring water-birth baths that open to the birthing bed area; 48 private post partum rooms; a new high-speed patient transport elevator.

"The plans developed by PRA were extremely accurate which made my life as the Project Superintendent much easier.  The very defined level of detail in the plans enabled work to continue without the need for extensive meetings or field visits."
