Mistie RodbergAIA, NCARB, CDT | Education
“There have been a lot of different events that have happened in my life, and if I have learned one thing, it is that challenges are just new doors and new opportunities.”
Being an ambitious daughter of a carpenter, Mistie felt driven to create, and to contribute to society. Mistie joined the US Army Reserves following High School and her path into the construction industry started upon entry to the Milwaukee School of Engineering, driven by an interest in engineering and construction management. World issues interrupter her education with deployment to Kuwait as an Army Medical Supply Specialist. Mistie spent eighteen months serving in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
She returned to Milwaukee with a sharpened perspective and the intentional decision to help communities through design. Mistie earned degrees at the UW-Milwaukee School of Architecture and Urban Design and joined PRA in 2014. Now, as a Project Architect and Associate of the firm, Mistie is responsible for leading project teams and helping shape internal culture.
Having worked in various studios, Mistie found a niche in the education studio. She believes there is a big responsibility to be a school architect. The facilities she helps design serve not only current and future students and staff but also the surrounding communities. In many towns, schools are at the heart of their community. The buildings are places where people gather, vote, attend school performances, watch soccer games, and where social clubs find their home. Mistie jumps at every opportunity to help districts because she understands the lasting community impact of quality design.
Outside of her work at PRA, Mistie loves to crochet little critters, go waterfall hunting locally or nationally, and has a collection of over 200 hats!
