Beaver Dam Police Station and Municipal Court

Beaver Dam, WI

Located on a prominent site in historic downtown Beaver Dam, the new Police Station and Municipal Court facility replaces an outdated Police Department located within City Hall. The City of Beaver Dam selected PRA as the design architect, to develop the project on a reclaimed site adjacent to the Dodge County Historical Society and Museum.

The state-of-the-art 30,000 sq. ft. station provides increased space for all operations of the department, especially intake, interview, squad and weapons areas. Efficient operations, safety and security are paramount to the building’s function and are integrated throughout. Unique to the project is a publicly accessible “safe room” and the first municipal court designed under the new State requirement to separate court and police functions. These requirements are achieved within a building designed to complement its historic neighborhood using locally quarried stone, brick, glass and distinctive roof forms and also illustrates the City’s commitment to sustainable design.
