OUR PEOPLE

Ken Turba

AIA, NCARB, CDT | Education

Before Ken knew what architecture was, he was building Lego structures and creating Lincoln Log fortresses-sparking his curiosity in how buildings are made. As he grew up, Ken acquired a taste for CAD, deepening his interest in how buildings form, function, and experienced by the end user. By the time he was heading to college, Ken knew he wanted to become an architect.

Ken came to PRA with 17 years’ experience as an architect in the industrial sphere working with office spaces, production/warehouse design, wastewater, and water treatment plants. He also briefly worked with fire and police stations. Ken had never been employed exclusively at a design firm and the shift from his previous experience was different, but exciting. He joined PRA’s Madison Office in 2016 as part of the Education Studio. While working on notable projects like Madison College Goodman South Campus, Ken discovered that helping the community creatively through architecture and design is what drives his work. He acts as a bridge between the designers and client and is the “go-to” when project challenges arise. Today, Ken is an Associate and Project Architect, pioneering PRA’s Austin Office that opened in 2021. He leads the new office alongside our strategic partners, Practice Design Group.

Within PRA, Ken enjoys actively engaging and helping younger staff develop professionally as a mentor and resource. When it comes to clients, Ken strives to create strong relationships to understand clients’ needs and humanize the architectural process. He believes it’s not always “about the business,” and you can have fun along the way.

Outside of projects Ken enjoys running 5K races with his son, making frequent trips back to Wisconsin to visit family, and volunteering with his church.
