Based on previous success renovating North Shores' Milwaukee and Kenosha Bank branches, leadership challenged PRA to help them redesign their dated Racine bank. Located off the busy Washington Ave., the newly renovated building better meets the needs of their customers and was transformed into a landmark, becoming a catalyst for redevelopment in the area.
Read moreThe 1970s exterior was a challenge because it was uniquely shaped and non-descript with brown masonry around the entire building. The design team re-cladded the exterior and manipulated the landscape to increase visibility and transform the building into a landmark. A tower element and new windows were installed to filter natural lighting into the interior and improve the bank’s curb appeal. New lit signage was added as well, further creating a dramatic entrance for customers and establishing the building’s presence.
Within the bank, branding was integrated using North Shores’ staple green and blue colors. The focus revolved around functionality and emphasis on in-person services. Teller lines were removed, and pods were installed. These pods are free-standing, which elicits the impression of a more collaborative transaction and returns floor space to the lobby.
Mechanically, the HVAC system was upgraded, and the fixtures were improved. The building also was renovated to be more accessible. Main banking services were relocated to the first level and a toilet room was added. Overall, the North Shore Westgate branch embodies the branding and character of the company and provides an environment that better suits the needs of the surrounding community.
